Telehealth

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth is healthcare that is provided virtually, using a range of telecommunication technologies connect you with your doctor without needing to be present in person. There are different types of telehealth, including talking to your doctor over phone or video chat, sending and receiving messages using email or secure messaging, and remote patient monitoring and adjustment programs.

What Visits Can be Done Using Telehealth?

In the field of audiology, there are a range of visits that can be conducted virtually. These may include a hearing aid evaluation if you have had a hearing test previously, hearing aid troubleshooting appointments, or remote hearing aid adjustments. Depending on your needs, you can contact your doctor for more information on whether your appointment can be conducted virtually.

What Do I Need for a Telehealth Appointment?

In most cases you can use your cell phone for video calls or phone calls, and some remote hearing aid adjustments can also be done using your cell phone! Sometimes, your hearing aids may need to be set up for remote programming while you’re in the office, but your hearing aids can be adjusted while you are at home!

If you want to see something demonstrated with your hearing aids or show your audiologist something on your phone, it can be helpful to have a computer or laptop with a webcam for video conferencing rather than your cell phone. Also, if you do not have a smart phone, most newer laptops come with webcams so you can have a telehealth appointment that way!

No matter what kind of technology you have or what your needs are, contact our office or schedule a telehealth on our website today from the comfort of your own home!
