Hyperacusis is a disorder in loudness perception. It is when everyday sounds seem much louder than they should be and may even be painful.
Misophonia is a strong negative reaction to sounds such as dripping water, chewing, snapping gum, or repetitive noises, such as pencil tapping.
Testing will be comprised of a comprehensive hearing evaluation and loudness discomfort levels. (18 years and older)
Treatment options include sound therapy, stress management and referral to a cognitive behavioral therapist.
